A smart glasses to modernize training and troubleshooting assistance

The need

In order to maintain a high level of competence and facilitate the operation of its network, RATP Infrastructures sought to modernize its training system and to strengthen the assistance to its agents during troubleshooting missions.

RATP Infrastructures was looking for a hands-free tool to maintain its teams' knowledge of specific and uncommon techniques. The target was also to modernize the training for PHT logging and to increase the comfort of the agent during troubleshooting.

LUNAAR, an expert in augmented collaboration, wanted to meet this need by engaging in a 4-month sprint.

The solution

The solution proposed by LUNAAR is a device composed of: a smart glasses, a digital platform dedicated to the training of RATP agents and a remote troubleshooting software.

As part of a training course, this solution allows you to train live with a course broadcast in the glasses, illustrating the actions of the trainer with images.

During a troubleshooting operation, the agent can request technical assistance or advice from one of his colleagues remotely, while sharing his field of vision.

The experiment

The experiment took place on RATP sites in high-voltage substations used to supply RATP network lines. Two needs were tested, remote troubleshooting assistance and the implementation of digital training.

In the case of troubleshooting, an agent was sent to the site to perform a maintenance intervention and the remote call of a technical expert made it possible to solve the problem more quickly and peacefully.

In the case of training, the agent followed a module on an RATP process on site via a training recorded in his glasses. The actions to be performed are detailed, illustrated by photos showing the actions of the trainer and allow effective immersion for the trained personnel.

Thanks to these experiments, the teams were able to take control of this new system and strengthen the process of digitizing training courses.

“The experimentation allowed us to develop our solution on software aspects in order to meet the specific needs of RATP. Additional functionalities on remote assistance but also on the training module were developed, tested and validated as part of the Rail Open Lab sprint”.

Following this sprint, RATP Infrastructures began the deployment phase of this type of solution for its teams.
