An accurate geolocation system under a tunnel
The Need
In order to have the ability to finely locate and know the usage data of VMI (Infrastructure Maintenance Vehicle), RATP Infrastructures sought to develop a new tool that meets this need.dotflow, an expert in image processing and geolocation, wanted to meet this need by committing to a 4-month sprint.
The Solution
The solution proposed by dotflow is a device composed of: a camera, a LiDAR, a LiDAR, an inertial unit and a data logger powered by batteries. When passing from a VMI to a tunnel, the dotflow device is capable of transmitting the position of the machine at a tolerance of 5 m from the machine to remote agents. It is possible to install or uninstall the device in one day, without the need for particular work or modifications. on VMIs.
The Experiment
The experiment took place at night on metro lines managed by the RATP, in 3 successive phases: The implementation of the systems and the calibration of the sensors The taking of measurements during the night worksites The analysis of the data and the execution of the dotflow algorithms
The experiment was based on pre-existing 2D and 3D maps of the underground network. To deal with the problems associated with the use of a camera, the data collected during the outings were anonymized and encrypted before recording and awareness-raising actions were carried out among the audiences concerned.
Apprenticeships
As a result of the experiment, the teams made several observations: there are few constraints to the integration of the device into the infrastructure, however, some points remain to be clarified. For vehicle integration. The proposed geolocation solution meets the business need.Making employees aware of topics related to the GDPR at the early stages of the experiment made it possible to facilitate the process.Making the cartographic data available up to quality is a key and important step.
Dotflow technology geolocates rolling stock in real time, even in complex environments such as tunnels. Fully embedded, this solution reduces infrastructure needs while guaranteeing accurate fleet monitoring with a wide coverage.
The dotflow supervision system allows infrastructure managers to improve the planning of maintenance operations with more agility, while facilitating the inspection of its infrastructure without disturbing traffic. Thanks to its cutting-edge technology, combining perception and data fusion, dotflow is at the forefront of embedded systems to offer innovative solutions, adapted to the challenges and challenges of the rail sector.
