The need

In order to guarantee the safety of workers at the rear base and to optimize the management of these sites via a decision support tool, infrastructure managers need to know and control track occupancy, the position of needles and derailleur cleats.

The prototyped solution

The proposed solution is based on historical sensors, improved and made connected thanks to IoT. They communicate their data to a dedicated platform. Route and lane occupancy information is visualized via a web application.
The sensor part includes:

Connected axle counters

Connected needle controllers and electronic position detectors
The display part includes 3 visualization interfaces allowing each user to access information useful to their needs:

A Digital TCO: web application, representing the digitized path map
A Connected Tip: connected light display positioned on the ground at the edge of the track, indicating the path marked to train drivers
A TIP Watch: smartwatch displaying the path traced
