The Rail Open Lab is accelerating its transformation and becoming an association!
SNCF Réseau, FIF, RATP and SERCE are changing the structure of the Rail Open Lab to an associative status in order to scale up the system.
Initially created in 2018 under the name Digital Open Lab by SNCF Réseau and FIF, then accelerated in 2021 with the integration of RATP and SERCE, this time under the name of Rail Open Lab, this device has reached a 3rd stage.
The Rail Open Lab, dedicated to the digital and technological acceleration of the French rail sector, will now take the form of an association, which will allow it to meet new challenges for the years to come.
During the association's constituent general meeting, which took place on Friday, December 2, 2022 at the RATP House, the statutes were presented to the active members of the Rail Open Lab partnership, and adopted unanimously. The association's board was elected for one year and will be effective in 2023, it is composed as follows for this first year:
Presidency: SNCF Réseau
Vice-presidency: RATP infrastructures
Treasurer: SERCE
Secretary General: FIF
This new legal structure and the new governance in place will make it possible to industrialize the Rail Open Lab model and to assert it as a robust structure with its existing or future partners, public or private.
The change of status will thus make it possible to carry out more 4-month sprints in real operating conditions by securing intellectual property aspects, for example, to create external partnerships (academic, research, start-ups, inter-GI exchanges, etc.), to open up to fields other than the railway sector, and finally to be able to benefit from public funding.
